Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP)

TURP uses electrical energy to cut and remove tissue. A monopolar or bipolar resectoscope is inserted into the urethra, the tissue is resected using electrodes and blood vessels are closed. Our hybrid system is the universal solution for TURP.

Monopolar resection in a salt-free solution involves the use of different electrodes for cutting and coagulation. The method has been established for decades and is safe for use. Discover our system in 18.5 Fr., 22 Fr. and 26 Fr. The mobile working element with titanium handle is available in a passive and active version.

A variety of different electrodes are available for monopolar resection.

Bipolar prostate resection is the modern alternative to monopolar TURP. These supply and discharge electrodes do not discharge the flow of current through the patient and use saline as irrigation fluid. The bipolar flow of current is what creates the yellow plasma bubble, which enables targeted cuts to be made. With the RZ hybrid system, the user is at liberty to decide whether to work using the bipolar or conventional monopolar method for each operation.

The RZ resectoscopes with manual titanium elements are available as passive and active versions and are best operated with the RZ HF units, but are also compatible with HF units from various manufacturers.
